12-25-07 It’s Christmas; no other day of the year produces so much (well, it is Christmas so what is a nice euphemism for shit video?) hand held raw footage. Nothing proves the need for editing more than family Christmas video. In households all across America there will be miles of tape shot Christmas day which will never be viewed by anyone; even the shooter will only watch on fast forward. Shame. A little thought, a little know-how and even the least talented shooters could capture some family moments worth preserving.
How do we get them there?
All of us in the business are exasperated trying to move the masses to the next level. Jeff Goldblum tried his best to nudge Mac users. I believed the ads. It should have worked ...nothing. iMovie is so simple and I hear now the new version in Leopard is even easier. 60,000 uploads to YouTube a day; most are morons hurting themselves and our eyes ,,,and of course, no editing.
Editing is punctuation for a language, a very simple language, but should I be surprised that the text message generation which has reduced the written word to vulgarities such as “my bad” has not learned this simple language they watch every day on TV.
Of course, altruism is not my motivation. Those that edit start using more sophisticated tools such as stock footage...and oops, that’s what we sell.

Check it out, see what you could be using. We are already inexpensive but I’m working on a way to offer everything for free. If I can do that for you, then will you learn iMovie? Would you watch a tutorial if were funny? I have one up on YouTube now, five of you watched. I put up a clip of a Bourbon Street Stripper, tens of thousands of hits for that...the clip is not edited. and the message does not really need editing. Oh well.
